out an autumn window

Today is a warm and sunny autumn day. I fed the hens and my 2 1/2 roosters. They are really groovin’ on the corn I’m bringing home for them from the grain elevator. It makes the eggs super bright orange, too. Most of the color is gone from the trees, so I’ll take color anywhere I can.

I’ve been playing with a bunch of cutter files while I’m waiting for grain at the elevator. Even though harvest has officially started, I still spend a lot of time sitting and waiting. I bring my little laptop and work on whatever projects I can. I can make files until they are coming out my ears, but alas, I just don’t have the time to cut them.

Today I have a few free hours and thought I’d get caught up, only to find that there’s no sticky left on my cutter mats. (I’ve heard of using a ZIG jumbo glue pen to make them sticky again but I can’t even find those! If anyone has tried this before, let me know how it went. OK?)

I’m seriously fall paper challenged, too. I did a three month stint for an online store and the owner never sent any of the product she promised, and promised and promised. Not one piece of paper, nothing! Evidently, the owner also hasn’t sent all the customers their purchases either. I finally gave up and resigned from the team, along with almost everyone else. But since I was counting on fall stuff I never got around to buying any myself. Live and learn.

I’ve used every ambiguous orange, red, purple, brown pattern sheet of paper in my stash. I’ve thought of ways to stamp, ink and chalk effects on to cardstock to create fall-ish stuff. Alas, I’ve got it bad for patterns and nothing else will do. I admit that I’ve been guilty of pattern abuse, but that’s ok with me. Just don’t laugh at what I did to that last piece of rust cardstock up there. It was a good idea, just not well implemented.

In the meantime, I’ll be sharing some cutter files. They are all fall themed and some of them are tested, which I will note if they haven’t been. Here’s the first, all zipped in svg, eps, png, and dxf.

Which reminds me, I saw the most giant squirrel outside of the library the other day. It was bigger than one of our cats. The thing was huge and while I fear it means the winter will be harsh, he could just have a thyroid problem, right? A girl can dream…

Love your files. Tape off the edges of your cricut mat and spray with Spray Adhesive. Elmers makes one. Take off the tape and your mat will be sticky again. I have done this and it really works great.

I haven’t used the zip glue pen, but I have used the krylon repositionalbe spray. It works great. Make sure to tape off your mat so that you don’t get sticky where the rollers go and voila, new mat. I’ve had my cricut for 1 1/2 years and never bought any new mats. Good luck!
