snow day

This is the first official snow day of the school year. The snow has been falling for 12 hours now. Everything is soft and quiet. I grabbed my reversing ring for my 50mm lens and captured these beauties on my fuzzy hat. In any given shot there are a dozen or so flakes. Here’s a collection of my favorites:
The details are truly amazing. Fleeting moments of beauty.

Wow, those are amazing! I don’t think I’ve ever seen an actual snowflake up close before. Thanks so much for posting these! Incredible….
Wow, what WONDERFUL pictures! So great that you could capture them so well!
Beautiful shots!
Hi there
I’ve never posted a comment here before, prefering to stalk from the shadows lol, however I have got to say that these photo’s are truely amazing – I never knew how perfect and detailed snowflakes really were! Stunning. Thank you.
Beautiful. Makes me want to start crocheting snowflakes!
I’m in awe of these photos! I didn’t know that they really, really looked like that! (And I’ve been around a long, long time.) Thanks for making my day.
I’ve been out in the snow all day long, beginning with getting my car stuck in a drift while I was trying to back out of the driveway. If you can make me love snowflakes, you must work wonders with them and you have indeed softened my hard frozen heart when I look at your photos. I’ve never heard of a reversing ring for a 50mm lens before, but suddenly I want one very, very much.

Beautiful work!
Wow now that’s a macro shot !!
