crocheting my time away

October 15th, 2008 in crafts by 2 Comments

I should feel lucky that I have all this free time while I’m working, but it does get tedious after awhile. I have A LOT of free time. Like 9-10 hours a day, six days a week. I’ve been trying to keep busy, looking for new patterns, come up with new ideas. Crochet, crochet, crochet. Last week I made crochet roses to make into pins. But my gloominess got the better of me and I chose colors like gray and dirty blue to make them out of. Now I have these corpse bride looking flower pins. Insert eyeroll.

This week I made a necklace and a collar. Granted, they still have somber colors, but I’m getting somewhere, right? I found this lacy pattern from making these roses. They are made by crocheting a long piece and then wrapping and sewing it in to shape. When it’s unwrapped it makes this pretty lace. I threaded the beads before I got started, just like I showed here. Just make sure you add enough before you get started.

(On a side note, I’m stuck with an old laptop here and can’t run photoshop. I’m using GIMP, which is a efficient little program that is so similar to photoshop, it’s scary. Oh, and it’s FREE!!! So at least I’m learning something new.)

Today I vow to make only things that are brightly colored and pretty. I promise.

Enjoy.

Hi, Sheila, “corpse bride” is very funny! Just a note to say I admire your creations…also your creativity in learning about a new program…way to go.

Cheers,

Lovely-my daughter makes these…so much work. I love watching her. My dad took a nail and board to give her a place to tie onto while she knots. I love it. Kara
