little holiday house

December 1st, 2011 in Christmas by 3 Comments

I’ve long loved the little houses with winter scenes. If I had the space (and funds!) I would build a little village all animated with a skating pond and lights. In the mean time, I’ll make these little houses on my own.

I searched for a base for the house and settled on this old copy A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. I’ve used a few of the pages for crafts here and there but the binding is awesome on it’s own. Now I can move it around easily. I like that!

I added one of those little battery operated tea lights inside the house. Because I used standard patterned paper light glows through the entire house. I placed tissue paper behind the windows for a more finished look but you can just leave it plain or try some patterned paper. The trims around the windows are just cut free hand and I used a door from another house I bought.  That’s a cotton ball coming out of the chimney.

Here’s the digital file all zipped in eps, svg, png, and dxf. If you want to print and cut, use the png file.

Turned out great! I like that it is on the book, it’s “grounded”.
