pink antlers

As I start on my holiday decorations, I’m posed with a dilemma. For the first time ever we are not going to be home on Christmas. I ponder the decor options: tree or no tree, decorate or not decorate? I’ve decided to take advantage of the situation and decorate in a way that I’d never do on any traditional Christmas. PINK.

Backstory: I was a tomboy growing up. Oh sure, I like the girlie things from a far. Like a “poke the pretty dress with a stick” distance. When we had two boys and no girls, I was more than happy. I love all the pretty craft stuff, love nature, love birds (as you well know!) But pink is not a part of my color vocabulary.

Until now. Enter the pink glittered antlers.

This little wall hanging was made from a piece of scrap wood. It’s about 4 x 4 inches and layered to the hilt with felt, bling, chipboard, ribbons, rubons, paint, and a bird. It was really more of an experiment in textile layering, but I’m quite happy with the results. Just looking at it makes me want to drink hot cocoa with peppermint sticks. Go ahead, you know you want to.
