Hipster Wedding

August 13th, 2012 in decor by 2 Comments

My cousin Justin and his fiance, Lizzie were married this weekend in Chicago. It was such a fun event to attend. They chose a city park for the ceremony and reception which included a wooded path and green space. It was very festive.Very relaxed. We had such a great time and they did a wonderful job with the decor.

The decor was bright and colorful. We were asked to all wear bright colors and patterns for the event. Chicago is known for it’s popcorn and that was featured prominently on each table along with natural bouquets of summer flowers.

Bright pompoms were hung from the beams. Being the windy city, there was a strong breeze but that just made the decorations dance along with the music.

Food was a big part of the celebration. We had the most amazing barbeque brisket. The pies were in lieu of a formal cake. I tried the blueberry and it has a floral essence that pared perfectly with the fruit. Divine!

No party is complete with out goodies and in this case that meant CANDIED BACON! Oh my word, I loved this stuff. Just the right combination of sweet bacon goodness with a sprinkling of pepper. (Mouth watering as I type.)

The bride wore a vintage style dress, complete with hat and gloves. She was adorable!

Each guest made a fingerprint and signed their name on this pen drawn picture. The tandem was used on their wedding invites and it was so personal. It really summed up the entire celebration: colorful, fun, warm, loving celebration of two people!

Congrats to my cousin and his new wife. I wish them all the best.
