I’m finally at the place where I can hold my pliers and have the dexterity to fiddle with tiny jump rings again. I must admit that my wrist is a million times better than before the carpal tunnel surgery. The doctor mentioned that my nerve was smashed flat. My wrist is still a little stiff but it gets better every day. Yay for modern medicine.
I signed up for Deryn Mentock’s Alchemy of Object’s online class. I managed to get in just before sign up ended even though I knew I wouldn’t be able to start right away. I’ve been watching her videos and learning new techniques in anticipation of being able to make something someday. Today is someday and here’s what I just finished.
The green flowered focal is a piece I’ve had since the mid-1990’s. I picked it up in NY, or was it in Oregon? I can’t remember. I’ve never had any emotional attachment to it, I just like it. It used to be a broach, and much larger. The red pieced are actually cuff links that I’ve re-fashioned.The giant metal tassel came from the Idea Store, as did the cuff links.
I’m trying to get away from using chain so much. I still fell back on it but tried to work more with beads. I’ll get there eventually.
I’m making pieces for the next Merry Treasure’s show at the Idea Store. So keep an eye out for more info on that. I will post anything that’s left after the show for sale in time for Christmas. Let me know if you are interested in anything I post here and maybe we can work out an online sale.
