Last year I participated in the first Merry Treasure’s bazaar at the IDEA store. Wow, a lot has changed since then! Most of us had never done a craft show before. I was quite unsure of what to make and sell. It’s hard to know what people will want to buy without knowing them. I followed my heart and made what I love. As they say, if you build it….
Everyone in the family has been so supportive of what I’ve been doing for this. They’ve given me the time and space to make stuff, picked up extra chores around the house, and best of all, made things to help with the show. Husband made this really cool shelf rack from scrap wood so I would have a more permanent display. Orion made wands out of ash wood with gems embedded in them and Alexander made little acorn charms.
The show started last night with bang at 4pm. Alexander was my designated helper and I had to drag him kicking and screaming all the way there. I knew he would love the experience, if I could just get him through the door. Gosh, he had fun. He met a bunch of new people and sold ALL of his little acorn charms. We found ourselves below an oak tree after dark in the rain looking for more acorn tops to make more to take today. We had a very good time and there’s still a whole day left!
I made soldered charms, butterfly pendants, necklaces, and crowns. My booth has been buzzing, so I must be doing something right. Note the credit card sign there…I signed up for Square Up and not only made more sales and larger sales because of it, but this left buyers with cash for the other booths. Win-Win.
I’ll take some more detail photos today. Just wanted to put this up.
Stop by if you are in the area: the Merry Treasures craft bazaar at the I.D.E.A. store, 10-3 Saturday, 28 E. Springfield Ave, in Champaign. I hope to see you there!
