breaking the rules with heart
Lately I’ve really had a hard time being inspired. Oh, I have plenty to do but I’m just not feeling it for my own personal style. I’ve grown stale. It seems like whatever I do comes out looking roughly the same. Same supplies, same details, same creative approach. Every once and awhile I put out something with a unique perspective, but most the time notsomuch. I’m so over myself.
I’m launching a personal challenge this week: try and do something totally different each day. Mix things up, use different supplies, approach design differently. I have new files I’ve been working on for just such an occasion so I’ll be posting something for you to download every day. That being said, today is the first day of the week (technically) and this was my first challenge.
I wanted to use this heart with wings file for making a special valentine, but I really wanted to think out of the box more than anything. I threw caution to the wind and discarded all the design rules I’d ever been taught. Heck, I didn’t even thing about using odd numbers of things. I just played. (I’m also going to try and show better photos of my projects. I know some of you want to actually SEE what I made. I can’t imagine why, but here goes….)
The cover is made from some hambly transparencies and my diecut heart with wings. The back of the card is a cutout frame from long ago that I’d never got around to using. I bound it together using my handy dandy bind-it-all. I love how that sort of stuff just comes together.
Then I added my heart with wings and the smaller heart, which I popped of course. On the inside, I added some chipboard swirls and then a heart that says:
“Many things in life will catch your eye, but only a few will capture your heart. Follow those.”
Who says that valentines have to have the same old sentiments anyway?
Tune in tomorrow for more fun and Enjoy!

Lovely! I really like the colour choices and way you layered the shapes.
Good luck with your week-long challenge – I’m looking forward to seeing the results!
